Admission as a Research Student (Kenkyusei)

You may start your study as a Research Student, prior to becoming a Regular Student in our graduate school, under the guidance of an officially assigned academic advisor. During the period of Research Student, you may also learn Japanese language and culture, and prepare for the entrance examination to become a Regular Student. Research Students are admitted in April, October and December each year. The maximum length of a period of Research Student is two years. If you pass the entrance examination for Regular Student during the Research Student period, your term as a Research Student is completed at the end of March immediately before the admission in April as a Regular Student. You can apply for Research Student while staying in your home country. The decision of acceptance/rejection as a Research Student is made based only on the application documents.
